You may be thinking you could just get an end table or an accent table to do the trick but that is only if you have a little bit of stuff to put away. Console tables are quite a bit larger than accent tables or end tables so they will offer a lot more storage space and help you keep your home looking clean and organized despite all the things you know you have had to put away.
Around the 17th-century in Italy a console table was a major manifestation of the culture of furniture made for the purpose of display. Many examples of the period were carved and were in fact some of the finest pieces of sculpture as much as furniture. An opulent group of consoles was made in 1675-78 for the Palazzo Colonna in Rome; where the supports for the tops were commonly carved as human figures eagles tumbling putti (cupids) luxuriant foliage and dolphins and they often were gilded.
Speaking of material console tables come in some of the most varied choices of any type of table. The majority of course are wood: oak maple walnut and cherry are popular although the material can be stained or distressed to change the look of the piece. Glass tabletops mixed with wood bases are an attractive way to add dimension and variety to the design and are also helpful for intermingling styles within a room. Glass is also uniquely suited to reflecting candlelight or enhancing the sparkle of your glassware.
If you are using one color of paint you may want to water it down to create a more 'whitewashed' look while painting.
I'm not very sure about who the man was behind the creation of this unique and great idea but all I know is he was somebody brilliant. To think and create a piece of the striking allure is definitely something no ordinary man can think; not that ordinary men are unable to craft out ideas but someone who had a vision of his needs as well as those of the people was exceptionally bestowed with intelligence.
